 * Khentruls,Tulkus and Khenpos -- NWC Teachers *

Nyingmapa Wishfulfilling Center is blessed with a number of gifted and realized teachers. In addition to The Ven. Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche ( *The Venerable Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche* ) and Tulku Jigme Rinpoche (* Tulku Jigme Rinpoche - Successor* ), NWC has, as members of its faculty a khentrul, two tulkus and two khenpos. Allow us to introduce three teachers to you:

   

       

* Tulku Jigmed Namgyal Dorjee Rinpoche -- Lama Thadral *

TULKU JIGMED NAMGYAL DORJEE RINPOCHE, known as LAMA THADRAL, is a highly realized, respected, contemporary Buddhist master able to teach and confer all aspects of Dudjom Tersar and Longchen Nyingtic. Lama Thadral was appointed by the Ven. Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche as Principal and Director of Education at Nyingmapa Wishfulfilling Center for Study and Practice in 2003. (* Home - History - About Us *) He holds classes in all aspects of the Dharma for novice, ordained and lay practitioners. Lama Thadral is noted for his extraordinary scholastic and spiritual skills and is a master of the Vajrayana and authority on Buddhist ritual performance arts.

 

Born in Spiti, Northern India to devout Buddhist parents, Lama Thadral was brought before HH Dudjom Rinpoche who recognized the child as the reincarnation of Lama Thadral Dorjee. Soon thereafter Lama Thadral received the Refuge transmission from Nyoshul Khenpo Jamyang Dorje and acordingly her entered the Dharma. Progressing at amazing speed in his studies, Lama Thadral was ordained as a Barma Rabjung by Khenpo Daser and a Sharmana by HH Trulshig Rinpoche. His full ordination was bestowed by HH Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche, who also initiated his Bodhichitta vows along with HH the Dalai Lama.


Lama Thadral received the long transmission lineage of kama and the rediscovered Treasure of Vajrayana from HH Dudjom Rinpoche, HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, HH Dodrupchen Rinpoche HH Dungsey Trinly Norbu Rinpoche and the Venerable Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche. having mastered the highest teachings at an early age, Lama Thadral took the sacred vajrayana vows. A gifted scholar, Lama Thadral continued to expand his education while focusing his practice on the Dudjom new Treasure of the Three Roots. He received Buddhist philosophy and meditation instructions from such great lamas as the Ven. Khenpo Thupten, Henpo Pema Tsewang Lhundrup, Henpo Tsewang Rigzing and Khenpo Gelek Tenzin. he completed his preliminary practice of the Dudjom New Treasure in a retreat soon after he received his instructions from HH Dugnsay Trnley Norbu Rinpoche. He completed the Nyingthig preliminary practices under the guidance of the Ven. Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche. The Ven. Lama Chemed Rinpoche gave hiim the transmission on the Khadro Thugthig -- one of the highest Buddhist practices, after which Lama Thadral spent several months in retreat meditating on the newly acquired, profound instructions.

Lama Thadral has lived at Nyingmapa Wishfulfilling Center for Study and Practice since he was a young boy. Throughout his education, he has been guided by his root lama, the Ven. Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche. On March 15, 1998, in a special ceremony at NWC, HH Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche and Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche enthroned Lama Thadral as a Khentrul -- an honorific title given to individuals of advanced scholastic and spiritual merit who have earned the khenpo degree and who are also recognized as a tulku.
 

   

    

   * Khenpo Tamdin Gyalpo *

KHENPO TAMDIN GYALPO was born on February 10, 1958. At the age of five, his parents brought him to Rewalsar where His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche blessed and gave him the Refuge transmission, thus entering him into the Dharma. A few years later, HH Dudjom Rinpoche bestowed on him both the Dudjom Tersar Three Roots initiation and Phowa transmission. Khenpo Tamding took his vows as a novice monk with His Holiness Trulshik Rinpoche at age 22, and was blessed by him as a fully ordained monk in 1981.


In 1977, Khenpo joined the Nyingmapa Wishfulfilling Center for Study and Practice, then located in India, where he first met the Ven. Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche. He spent seven years studying advanced Buddhist philosophy and meditation. In addition to devoting months at a time in spiritual retreats, Khenpo received numerous Sutra and Tantra high teachings, including empowerments, oral transmissions and pith instructions from many great and holy masters known to be the upholders of the Nyingma tradition. Other than HH Dudjom Rinpoche and the Ven. Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche, Khenpo received teachings from HH the Dalai Lama, Dilgo Khentse Rinpoche, Chadral Rinpoche, Penor Rinpoche, Dodrup Rinpoche, Trinley Norbu Rinpoche, Dzongsar Khentse Rinpoche, Khenpo Thupten Rinpoche, Khenpo Daser Rinpoche and many other well-respected lamas.

In November 1983, HH Dudjom Rinpoche titled him a Khenpo and appointed him to various scholastic Nyingma Institutions affiliated with HH Dudjom Rinpoche.

In October 2003, the Venerable Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche persuaded Khenpo Thamdin to join him once more as Director of Nyingma Wishfulfilling Center for Study and Practice, Nepal and where he remains today skillfully instructing and guiding the next generation of NWC monks.

 

   

    

   * Khenpo Ngawang Tharchin (Khenpo Tsering-La) *

In June 1967, KHENPO NGAWANG THARCHIN (KHENPO TSERING-LA) was born in Tibet where at age seven he went to monastic school and learned Tibetan grammar, poetry, science and studied all the sutras and tantras such as the Madhyamika (The Middle Way), The Six Paramitras (The Transcendent Perfection), The Abhidharma (Corpus of Text Expounding the Metaphysical of the Sutra), Tseme (The Science of Logic; debate) and all the Precepts. Following his graduation from monastic college in Tibet, he left his homeland for India and Nepal.

An example of scholar who embraces all schools of Buddhism, Khenpo Tsering received numerous teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and blessed him as a fully ordained monk. In addition, he has received numerous teachings from heads of the Nyingmapa School of Buddhism, such as HH Penor Rinpoche, Kyabje Tulshi Rinpoche and Kyabje Tseduk Rinpoche, Khenchen Pema Sherab, Khenpo Gelek Tenzin, Khenpo Choege Gocha, and Thakpo Tulku Rinpoche.

 


From the Ven. Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche he received the initiation and oral transmission of Trulshik Dongak Lingpa's Yangtik Ngakpo (* The Dark Retreat *) , the commentary of Longchen Rabjam's Seven Treasures, The Lonchen Nyingtik Ngondro, and Yeshe Lama.

In 1988 he was enthroned as Khenpo at Nyingmapa Wishfulfilling Center where he now continues to study, practice and to teach the student monks and foreign students the sutras and tantras.
